Grilling Peaches 101

Summer months mean it’s grilling time! Typical grilling fare like lean meats and veggies are tasty, but did you know you can grill fruits as well? Stone fruits, an August Foods of the Month (FoM) are great on the grill! When you grill peaches, for example, it brings out the flavor and sweetness.

Don’t have a grill? That’s okay! We made these tasty peaches using a grill pan on the stove and they turned out just as good as the real thing. It only takes about 10 minutes and is a very easy, healthy option for brunch or even dessert. These steps for grilling peaches will help you at your next barbeque!

Step 1: Turn your grill (or stove with a grill pan on top) to medium high.

Step 2: Thoroughly wash the peach using your hands and warm water. A vegetable scrubber will be too harsh for the peach’s delicate skin.

Step 3: Cut the peach in half horizontally, and then remove the pit.

Step 4: Rub a SMALL amount of extra virgin olive oil on the inside of the peach halves, so they don’t stick to your grill.

Step 5: Place the inside part of each peach half down onto the grill and let them cook for 10 minutes. The skin side should be facing towards you.

Step 6: After 10 minutes, use a spatula to transfer the peach halves onto a plate. Serve immediately with a spoonful of non-fat vanilla Greek yogurt. Enjoy!
