When we need some creative ideas, we go right to the experts! One of those is Virginia Cooperative Extension Agent, Ollena Jackson. Over the next few days, we’ll be sharing some great ideas from her!
December is such a rushed time for my schools and I usually don’t go into the classroom during that month. I do take snacks and fun projects for them to do at their convenience. Here are the snacks that I’m doing this year. Some of these came from a Google search and I tweaked them to make them healthy. -Ollena
Reindeer Sandwiches
Whole wheat bread reindeer sandwiches. Cherry tomato for the nose and black eyed peas for the eyes.
Frosty the Bagel
This is half of a bagel with reduced-fat cream cheese spread. The ear muffs are broccoli, carrot for the nose, black olive eyes and red bell pepper slices to make the mouth. I’m going to use a whole wheat pasta noodle to go across from muff to muff.
So fun and delicious! We’re willing to bet the kids go crazy for them!
