We are back for another OrganWise Guys Foods of the Month (FoM) post! Each month, we feature simple tips to eat more of these healthy foods. In April, the FoMs are nuts and fresh beans – yum! Share the tips below with family, friends and colleauges and try them out for yourself, too!
Tip 1: Make bugs on a log for snack! Top celery and carrot sticks with peanut butter. Add dried fruit like raisins, cherries or cranberries. Check out more snack ideas from the OWG!
Tip 2: Sir Rebrum has a nutty idea! Make your own trail mix! Use unsalted peanuts, cashews and walnuts mixed with dried apples, apricots, and raisins.
Tip 3: Tonight, use your microwave to steam-cook green beans with broccoli and carrots for a quick, healthy side dish!
Tip 4: Have unsalted nuts on salads or main dishes to replace meats (since they are an excellent source of protein). Nuts are a concentrated source of calories, so eat small portions!
Tip 5: Looking for a creative side dish? Toss cooked frozen lima beans with olive oil, sliced onions and salt and pepper for a super fast nutritious addition to any meal.
Tip 6: Nuts have healthy oils and are high in omega 3 fatty acids. Eat nuts for good, heart healthy fat!
