Commit to Health

Last week, you may have heard the buzz surrounding a very exciting announcement which included appearances from First Lady Michelle Obama and Parks and Rec celebrity, Amy Poehler. Specifically, the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA), in collaboration with Partnership for a Healthier America and Alliance for a Healthier Generation, launched a campaign called Commit to Health, to help kids grow up healthy with their community parks and recreation.

According to a release from the NRPA, “Commit to Health is a 5-year campaign that supports the implementation and evaluation of Healthy Eating and Physical Activity (HEPA) standards in park and recreation sites, like public parks and recreation centers, across the United States. These standards help ensure children in out-of-school time programs receive healthy food and adequate physical activity time to make each child happier and healthier and to combat inactivity trends for our nation’s youth. NRPA plans to have at least 2,000 sites implementing HEPA standards in their out-of-school time programs by the end of the five-year campaign.”

You can download and read the entire release from the NRPA here.

We here at The OrganWise Guys Inc. are SO excited about this new Commit to Health initiative and look forward to working together with NRPA to bring the message of good health to kids in parks and recreation centers all over the country. So, make sure and spread the word!
