Hey Team!
It’s me, Calci M. Bone, writing my first official blog! This weekend I’ve got a big hockey game—and I’m nervous, so maybe writing about it will help! I am not worried about my physical abilities as I stay healthy by eating plenty of fruits and veggies (broccoli is my favorite veggie), drinking lots of low-fat milk, and getting regular exercise. But sometimes, when the games are close, I get really flustered and don’t always make the smartest plays Then I start getting upset with myself, which causes me to make more mistakes. And this is the big game against our rival—we’ve played them twice and we’ve each won one game. I need to be on my ‘A’ game so I don’t disappoint the team!
I talked to Sir Rebrum about ways to train my brain to stay calm yet alert during the game. He said the best thing I can do is simply think positively. I need to remind myself that everyone makes mistakes sometimes, but it is important to learn from them and move on. Sir Rebrum also gave me some personalized positive sayings that I should repeat to myself over the next few days:
• I AM CALM, COOL, AND CALCIUM-FORTIFIED, ESPECIALLY WHEN THINGS GET STRESSFUL. (I love the part about calcium!)
• I MAKE SMART DECISIONS THAT HELP ME ACHIEVE MY “GOALS.” (Think hockey goals here!)
• I AM A “BONIFIED” WINNER!
I’m going to be repeating these to myself each morning when I wake up and each night before I go to sleep. Hopefully, these will help keep me as strong mentally as I am physically! I’ll be sure to tell you all about my game on Monday! While you’re waiting, you can go ahead and color a picture of me getting ready for the game!
Wish me good luck!
Calci
