Since this Monday was Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, our teacher decided to take the week and teach us all about him. The thing that really stuck with me was how his civil rights work was not just about himself, but about others as well. He really wanted to make life better for everyone around him and future generations. It got me thinking, “How can I help out my community?” I thought about it a lot the past few days (hey, it’s what brains do!). I talked to my parents and the other OrganWise Guys and they had a great idea of how we could give back to the community… clean up the park playground! At our neighborhood park, there are picnic tables, a walking trail, and an old playground. The area around the jungle gym, in particular, could really be cleaned up. It was decided, that The OrganWise Guys (and our parents) were going to go make that playground look as good as new! We are doing it this weekend, so I’ll be sure to tell you all about it on Monday!
