This summer we were excited to pilot a fun contest idea with Gwinnett County Parks and Recreation. They were thrilled to accept the challenge and the results were quite impressive. We have previously mentioned that Gwinnett County is The OrganWise Guys’ home base, so we love being able to work right in our own backyard!
The contest sought out creative older students in summer camps who were willing to come up with some unique ways to convey The OrganWise Guys’ health messages of LOW-FAT, HIGH-FIBER, LOTS OF WATER and EXERCISE to younger children using a variety of multi-media formats. Some suggested examples included: songs/raps, short skits, and poems. We were impressed with what they actually came up with and enjoyed being the judges (although it was hard to pick the winner!).
Check out this montage of the submissions or you can check out each submission in its entirety below!
Here are the final results:
1st Place: Bogan Park; winner of $200 OWG gift card
2nd Place: Mountain Park; winner of $100 OWG gift card
3rd Place: George Pierce Park; winner of $50 OWG gift card
Honorable Mention: Rhodes Jordan Park
This was such a fun project and we encourage you to explore similar contests or ideas in your classrooms, schools, parks, or other community sites! Contact us if you would like to see a template to use for contest rules and submissions.
