Gymnastics and Fitness School Making Healthy Impact on Children

My name is Holly Clark and I am the Director of Operations at CORE Kids Academy, a gymnastics and fitness school for children in Richmond, VA. We offer gymnastics and fitness classes at our gym, as well as provide enrichment at area schools and preschools. We began implementing the OrganWise lessons into our wellness-based curriculum last September in both our in-house and mobile programs, and the response has been overwhelming.

For a special two-hour preschool class that we do in-house, students participate in a weekly OrganWise lesson. The songs on the DVDs are so catchy that even our two year old students remember the words and go home singing the songs. Our staff has capitalized on the resources for educators, and even created new tools. For example, coaches laminated some of the OrganWise characters to use in both a matching and memory game for students. The OrganWise lessons are an amazing tool for illustrating the importance of gymnastics and fitness because they simplify the human body in a way that makes it fun and easy for children to understand. The dolls, as well as the clever names of the body parts, make the children retain the information with ease. The children absolutely love the OrganWise Guy and Gal dolls, and are upset if they are not incorporated into the lesson plan that day. Our philosophy focuses on wellness, so we discuss how fitness and nutrition affect us. Multiple parents have commented that their children come home talking about needing to eat a healthy dinner to help “The Kidney Brothers” or “Hardy Heart” stay strong. In addition, our students can comprehend the positive effects that gymnastics and nutrition are having on the body.

I would highly recommend The OrganWise Guys learning tools to gymnastics schools, child fitness programs, preschools, elementary schools, daycares, enrichment programs, or any child-oriented organization. The knowledge that our students retain regarding the human body is extraordinary.
