The OrganWise Guys go nuts over breakfast! Not only do we love all healthy breakfast foods, but we are especially nuts for NUTS this month! April means that healthy nuts like walnuts, almonds, cashews, etc. are the Foods of the Month! Today, we celebrate our favorite meal of the day by highlighting all the tasty ways you can eat nuts for breakfast!
Terrific Trail Mix – Our recipe, found here also makes for a perfect breakfast on the go. Take trail mix filled with healthy nuts on your way to work or school.
Apples, Nuts and Cheese – Another on-the-go easy breakfast is a simple mixture of chopped walnuts, chopped apples, and low-fat cheese cubes. This can also be transported in a plastic bag for a breakfast that mixes good fats, dairy, and fruit.
Healthy Breakfast Parfait – Use your favorite non-fat Greek yogurt as a base for a healthy parfait. Then add fruit like blueberries or strawberries, and sprinkle with some almonds or walnuts. You can make a parfait pretty by putting it in a fun glass. If you are in a time crunch, you can also make this portable by mixing the fruit and nuts the night before in a plastic bag. Then add it to the yogurt that morning as you leave for work or school.
Nutty Banana Bites – Dip bite-sized banana pieces into non-fat vanilla Greek yogurt, then roll them into a bowl of very finely chopped walnuts. Freeze for one hour and enjoy! (Check out the final product to the right.)
