Monday, March 4th – Friday, March 8th is National School Breakfast Week! Be sure to start off the day with something healthy and delicious! Did you know that eating breakfast can make you healthier all around? A study presented at the American Heart Association showed that people who eat breakfast are less likely to be obese, have good blood sugar levels, and are less likely to be hungry later in the day. These findings are music to The OrganWise Guys’ ears!
Since everyone should eat breakfast, check out these healthy and quick ways to start your day, in honor of National School Breakfast Week (clockwise from top right):
Whole Wheat Bagel with Low-Fat Cream Cheese and Tomato – Top a toasted whole wheat bagel with your favorite low-fat cream cheese and two slices of tomato. Sprinkle with a little pepper and eat at home or take to go.
Apples with Walnuts and Cheese – Mix cut up apples with your favorite low-fat cheese and nuts for a well-balanced breakfast. This tasty breakfast can be prepared the day before and transferred to plastic bags for a quick breakfast.
Whole Wheat Blueberry Muffins – Use whole wheat flour and lots of blueberries in your favorite muffin recipe to add more fiber and vitamins. These are great for a lazy weekend breakfast or make a batch for the upcoming week.
Baked Apple – This meal is so tasty it can be breakfast or dessert! Hollow out an apple and stuff it with chopped nuts and raisins. Sprinkle with cinnamon and bake in the oven at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.
Berry Smoothie – Blend berries, non-fat Greek yogurt, ice cubes, and a splash of non-fat milk together for those who prefer to drink their breakfast instead!
So, what do you plan to eat for breakfast this week?
