Surviving the Holiday Break

It’s here, the most wonderful time of the year … Christmas vacation! The time when parents set their stopwatch to see how long it takes their child to say, “I’m bored.” So this year, be proactive with your holiday plans. Here are some of our favorite ideas to fight the boredom.

  • Bundle up and visit the local playgrounds – ask other families to meet you there. Bring a thermos of hot chocolate (made with low-fat milk, of course) to keep you warm.
  •  This is a great time of year to hit the local museums – especially ones that have special displays for children.
  • Organize a holiday scavenger hunt in your neighborhood. All the clues can be based around your favorite holiday themes.
  • Visit the local indoor gym or swimming pool to stay active.Involve your little helpers in mealtime prep. Have them choose healthy side items.
