The National School Nutrition Association Conference

We had a great time in Nashville, TN this year for the annual School Nutrition Association Conference. We absolutely love to spend time with the men and women involved in foodservice who are working hard to create healthy options for kids.

As you can see, our booth was slammed! We got to talk to so many people who use the OWG already and others who were interested in getting their schools to be OrganWise.

Dr. Danielle Hollar (HOPE 2); Mary Hill (Executive Director of the Food Services Department in Jackson, MS); Carla Kent (Cafeteria Manager at Marshall Elementary School); and Theresa Hand (Mississippi State University Extension) all gave a presentation entitled Striking Gold in Mississippi. A packed audience was excited to hear how the synergy of partnership between OWG, Foodservice, the W.K. Kellogg Foundation and University Extension is helping Jackson Public Schools strive for gold in the US Healthier Schools Challenge.

Of course we also took some time to look around the exhibit hall.Where else can you find a giant chicken?

We were delighted to try some healthy samples offered by vendors and even stumbled across a display for Let’s Move Salad Bars. Wow! Who wouldn’t want that in their cafeteria?!

Thanks to everyone who stopped by to visit us and to the USDA for letting us hang out on your lane! We can’t wait to see you all in Denver!
