As we always say, we just LOVE to get emails, stories and pictures of The OrganWise Guys (OWG) program in action. We recently received a fun email from Dustin Hall, of University of Illinois Extension in Montgomery County. She shared with us the results of a fun unit on Peri Stolic, also known as the large intestine, where the students had finished the OWG stories and movies and were asked to draw the pictures below following a discussion of what the large intestine’s job.
Dustin Hall says, “I go to all the elementary schools in the county and teach K-2nd grades. I visit each classroom twice a month. From the stories, to the movies and the hands-on activities, my students have learned so much this year and the teachers have already asked me to return next year. They like that it is a multi-year curriculum. I like that the program uses messages that the children can understand and it is not so technical that the message gets lost.”
Thanks Dustin for sending in this great success story and the personal testimony that these products do make a difference! We appreciate you!
University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) Chicago Partnership for Health Promotion (CPHP) has been using The OrganWise Guys programming in a variety of settings for a long time now. Each month, they bring Foods of the Month tastings to school lunchrooms in Chicago with the purpose of educating children about good nutrition and giving them a chance to try new foods.
University of Chicago – Partnership for Health Promotion is at it again! A big congratulations to Anastasia McGee, Shirley Vouris, and the rest of the UIC staff for creating this wonderful video highlighting their Foods of the Month apple tastings with local elementary schools this fall.
The University of Illinois at Chicago Partnership for Health Promotion (CPHP) promotes good nutrition and healthy eating with the OWG Foods of the Month Kit. In this past school year alone, they have worked with over 22,800 students in 44 schools! CPHP is always on the forefront of new and creative ways to encourage children to try the Foods of the Month, like cooking demonstrations, taste testings and more. In April, in addition to their taste test, CPHP hosted a musical contest for students to make a creative rap about their love for green beans (an April Foods of the Month)! (more…)
The University of Illinois at Chicago-Chicago Partnership for Health Promotion (CPHP) has implemented the OWG program in 38 Chicago public schools. Recently, nine of those schools have achieved recognition through the Healthier US School Challenge! A special THANKS goes to Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois and their parent company, Health Care Service Corporation (HCSC), for their continued support in this effort.
