February is National Children’s Dental Health Month and according to the American Dental Association, today is also Give Kids a Smile Day, which provides kids with free dental care and education thanks to generous dentists offering their services and corporate sponsors Henry Schein, Colgate and Dexis offering free dental supplies. What a great way for these dentists to give back to their community. Happy kids are healthy kids!

We are strong proponents of fitting in physical activity whenever and wherever you can, whether it be at home, work or school. We carry a product for school age kids called WISERCISE! that encourages 1o minutes of daily exercise in the classroom while staying on task academically. So if the kids can do it, why not us adults, too?

As the saying goes, “getting started is the hardest part.” It’s been over two months now since our sweet bundle of joy, Heidi, joined our family. We now have 3 kiddos under the age of 6. How’s that for some chaos? It’s hard to believe how fast the time has gone by. I guess I can chalk that up to a lengthy C-section recovery, sleepless nights, and the holidays! I am now back to the daily grind and realizing I need to focus more on myself, specifically my overall health and fitness.
It’s safe to say that I overindulged during my pregnancy. As a result, I gained 49 pounds! Put post-pregnancy and the holidays together, and healthy eating went by the wayside. (Even us OrganWise health nuts get off track sometimes!) Working for a nutrition education company for ten years and being a former competitive gymnast, I know what healthy changes need to be made when it comes to nutrition and exercise. Now it’s just a matter of DOING it!
I thought a great way to hold myself accountable would be to share my experience with others who are interested in making healthy choices themselves. I’ve never been good at diets, which is good because here at The OrganWise Guys we promote creating lifestyle changes instead! I do have a weight-loss goal in mind, but plan on getting there by making smart choices along the way. So, join me on my post-baby fitness journey as I work towards getting myself back to a fit and healthy body (and mind!). I will be sharing my tips and progress once a month, so check back in February for an update on what I have been doing to reach my goal.
What tips do you have to share to get back on track after baby?
