Horse: Not Just a Basketball Game

Hello Fellow OrganWise Guys Club Members,

We are still at the ranch, having the time of our lives! Like Calci told you last week, we got to ride horses, and I must admit, I was a bit nervous. The closest I’d ever come to a horse is playing HORSE, the basketball game, with the ‘guys’ after school. But my fellow OrganWise Guys rallied around me, and I decided to give the horse riding a try. I’m so glad I did, because I have had a blast riding the horses the past few days! I am so impressed by their strength especially because they are only eating hay mixed with some peas, beans, and lentils! It just goes to show that eating vegetables keeps you strong! Make sure you download our coloring sheet for the road trip!

Oklahoma, Wish We Got Here Sooner

Hello fellow OrganWise Guys Club Members,

We spent today exploring Oklahoma City. What a great place this is, especially for kids like us! Lake Hefner was our destination of choice. It was 10-miles around —that would be a lot of walking! Instead, we rented bikes, making the journey around the lake much easier to handle. After a nice bike ride, we bought a kite and had a great time flying it! You forget how much fun flying a kite can be until you’re with all your friends on a beautiful day!Pepto-Bike

For dinner, we made our way to Bricktown. There were lots of restaurants, so we took our time deciding, which was a bit rough for me, as no one likes walking around on an empty stomach—especially when you are a stomach!! But I’m glad we took our time, because I had a great Greek salad topped with grilled chicken! Mmmmm, it was tasty and we all downloaded copies of today’s coloring sheet to distract us while we waited for dinner! Overall, another excellent stop on our cross-country trek.

Happy Chocolate and Soda Day!

We hope you’re celebrating Chocolate and Soda Day! You better believe The OrganWise Guys started celebrating early this morning by having a chocolate bar and two sodas for breakfast. What a nice way to start the day… April Fool’s! (more…)

Heart-y Foods

Hello fellow OrganWise Guys Club Members!

This month is all about treating your heart right (And really, every month should be about treating your heart right!). One way you can keep your heart pumping strong is by eating healthy foods. To celebrate, I’m making sure to pack my lunch with some high-fiber, low-fat, heart healthy snacks that are red! That means I’ll be eating sliced red peppers, red-delicious apples, tomatoes, strawberries, and raspberries all this month! Who knows, maybe I’ll throw in some blueberries in there because, after all, part of the heart is blue! What are some other healthy red foods I can bring for lunch? More importantly, what are some that you can bring for lunch?

Don’t forget to get today’s coloring sheet and activity sheet!

Halloween Isn't All About Candy

Hello fellow OrganWise Guys Club Members!

Halloween is fast approaching, which normally means a lot of candy. Don’t get me wrong; a little bit of candy every now and then is a nice treat, but too much givesme a stomach ache. That’s why one of my favorite games at Halloween parties is bobbing for apples. It’s a simple game, where you try to get as many apples from the large bucket that they are floating in without using your hands. The best part is … you can eat the apples afterward! The only thing I want to do is add more fruit into the game. How does, “Bobbing for Apples, Pears, and Nectarines” sound? Good? Or is it too much of a mouthful? Yeah, I’ll keep working on the name. OWG_Blog_Art_10-25-12
