Donate for a Good Cause

Peri donate for a good causeDuring the holiday season, the topic of giving is tossed around frequently. This time of year is a chance to teach kids that they can donate for a good cause. It’s an opportunity to talk about a variety of causes that can be supported by donating clothing, canned goods, or even money to organizations in need. It’s also a good time to remind kids to remember how fortunate they are in a variety of ways.

To help teach kids why its important to donate for a good cause, make sure and download the coloring page and activity sheet for today. The kids can help Peri manage the canning drive that they are involved in!

Teach Kids the Importance of Giving

Teach kids the importance of givingSo far this month we have covered the concept of gratitude and being thankful for the things we have. To go along with this concept, this time of year is also a good opportunity to teach kids the importance of giving.

There are so many ways, big and small that you can give to make people happy. Whether it’s helping out with chores around the house, helping your neighbor shovel snow, or buying your best friend a present just because, it’s a fun way to spread the spirit of giving. Of course we also encourage the idea of paying it forward!

How Being Kind To Others Can Feel Good

Sir Rebrum being kindOnce you start showing gratitude towards others and realizing that something as simple as a “thank you,” can make someone’s day, it makes you want to continue to do nice things. Oftentimes, so many actions go unnoticed and under-appreciated. It’s important to teach kids from a young age to be grateful and appreciative of things that people do for them. It seems that kids have lofty expectations and don’t always appreciate everything that they have.

This is a great time of year to have a conversation about gratitude and how being kind to others can feel good! Explain the simple things that can be done to show appreciation. Things such as a smile, a nice compliment, or thank you note, can go a long way. It will definitely be well-received to those on the receiving end of it!

Enjoy Healthy Foods During Thanksgiving

healthy foods during ThanksgivingFall is here and Thanksgiving is right around the corner. There are foods that we typically eat during these festive holidays and it’s important that we remember we can still eat healthy versions of these foods during these celebrations.

You may hear us talk about the foods of the month on occasion, and now is the perfect time to remind you all to eat your November foods of the month, lean meats and sweet potatoes. Turkey and sweet potatoes go hand-in-hand with Thanksgiving, but as we said, try and prepare these foods in a healthy way so you can enjoy healthy foods during Thanksgiving. Healthy foods don’t have to mean you lose the flavor!

Download the coloring sheet for today and talk to your kids about the different ways that you can prepare some of these foods for good health and enjoy healthy foods during Thanksgiving!

Teach Kids To Be Thankful

teach kids to be thankfulSo often we wait until the day of Thanksgiving to show our thanks and gratitude for the blessings in our lives. While being thankful on this day is fantastic, why not make it a habit to do on a regular basis!

November, the beginning of the holiday season, is a great time to teach kids to be thankful. Whether it be teaching them to thank their parents for the clothes and toys they have, or thanking the mailman for delivering the mail, it’s important for them to realize they can be grateful for them all.

Sir Rebrum has a great idea for showing gratitude that any child could model.
